15. A purpose or orientation toward a goal that serves to guide or motivate.”

I’ve recently became aware of another field in which technology abstracts life-changing opportunities. As if it wasn’t enough now that we can hardly perform any kind of arithmetic operation without the help of a calculator, here comes that marvellous device called the SatNav, to prevent us from the joy of getting lost and finding our own way out of it.

I’m complaining, but I do like them. Even though I miss driving carelessly around a new neighbourhood, thinking that I definitely don’t need to stop and ask anybody for the street I was meant to be on. There’s something satisfying about these gadgets’ technical ability to direct me from where I am to where I want to go. If only there was a similar artefact to help us navigate through the sea of decisions and choices we face pretty much every day.

Imagine yourself introducing the event (e.g. “visiting the in-laws”), getting a detailed report of the pros and cons of the decision (e.g.“inquisitive questions vs catching up”…) and finally, getting advice on when to proceed (e.g. “better to wait after the job interview”) . Life would be as sweet as a promenade along Marbella’s sea front.

The reality is that there is much to be learnt in dealing with our daily life difficulties rather than taking the easy way out. So what do you say to taking chances…?
